Best Rabbit Food And Water Bowls

Bunnies scatter food everywhere when they’re bored, annoyed, or angry about something. Sometimes, they’re tossing their food bowl when they want attention or smell something rotten.

However, that’s about to end with the following food bowls that can double as water bowls. Choosing a bowl for your bunny to eat or drink from seems like a very simple decision. That couldn’t be further from the truth, especially if you’re a new bunny owner and don’t know what to look for exactly.

Instead of spending money on bowls that don’t work, choose one of the next best-rated rabbit food and water bowls that will keep your bunny well-fed and happy without wasting any kibble.

Kaytee Paw Print Rabbit Water Bowl

Kaytee Paw Print Rabbit Water Bowl

If you’re looking for something simple yet functional and appealing, look no further than this water/food bowl by Kaytee. It’s a very adorable bowl made with chew-proof ceramic.

The paw print design is what makes this bowl unique. What I like most about this bowl is the chew-proof design along with the coating that makes this product super easy to clean and maintain.

Furthermore, it’s heavy, making it harder for your bunny to flip it over and spill food or water. Meaning, you won’t have to clean up repeated spills in your bunny’s cage anymore.

Pros:

  • Adorable paw print design
  • Chew-proof and super durable
  • Heavy enough that your bunny can’t flip it
  • Made with chew-proof ceramic

Living World Rabbit Water Bowl

Living World Rabbit Water Bowl

If you don’t want to spend too much money on a water/food bowl but still want something high-quality and functional, then this bowl by Living World makes a great choice for you.

It’s super simple and super affordable! In my personal opinion, it’s the best food and water bowl for the money. The bowl comes with a locking design that mounts to the side of your rabbit enclosure.

Thanks to this locking design, your bunny won’t be able to spill anything and create a mess. It’s made of chew-resistant and super-thick plastic and doesn’t take too much time and effort to attach.

But here’s the kicker. It’s dishwasher-safe! However, note that on some cages where the fencing doesn’t go all the way to the floor, this lightweight bowl may mount too high for your pet to reach.

Since it’s made of chew-resistant plastic, you don’t have to worry about the bowl being too heavy. It’s a very lightweight bowl, so you can easily remove it and put it in the dishwasher.

Pros:

  • Chew-resistant
  • Holds up to 20 oz of food/water
  • Easily mounts to the side of wire cages
  • Easy to remove for cleaning and refilling
  • Fastens securely to prevent spills
  • Dishwasher-safe

Cons:

  • It doesn’t mount low enough on some wire cage designs

Living World Ergonomic Rabbit Water Bowl

Living World Ergonomic Rabbit Water Bowl

Another very simple and very adorable bowl by Living World is their ergonomic rabbit water/food bowl. It’s made of chew-proof durable ceramic that’s difficult to break or damage.

The best part? It’s very cheap and comes with a coating for easy cleaning and bacteria reduction. What I like most about this bowl is the wide selection of colors including green, blue, pink, etc.

Meaning, you can choose your color. Another thing I like is the weight. It’s a heavy bowl with a weighted base so your bunny won’t be able to tip it over and spill everything that easily.

Pros:

  • Reasonably-priced
  • It’s very hard to tip over
  • Coating to reduce bacteria and enable easy cleaning
  • Made of durable ceramic
  • Chew-proof bowl

Cons:

  • Available in small and large sizes but they’re both too small

Lixit Rabbit Water Fountain & Bowl

Lixit Rabbit Water Fountain & Bowl

If you’re searching for a complete feeding system for your bunny, then Lixit has the ideal choice for you. It’s their rabbit fountain and bowl made of durable plastic that your bunny won’t chew up!

On the contrary, they will have plenty of water and food at all times. This water container holds up to 48 oz of water for your bunny, slowly dispersing it into the bowl as needed. Although it holds enough water for multiple days, I still highly suggest providing fresh water for your bunnies on a daily basis.

The best part? It’s very easy to clean. Therefore, if you’re looking for a low-maintenance food and water bowl, look no further than this feeding system. It will keep your responsibilities to a minimum as well as your bunnies well-fed and happy at all times! However, keep in mind that it’s not very heavy.

Meaning, there’s a chance your rabbit will turn the whole system over and cause a mess. That’s the only thing I dislike about this product. I wish it had a weighted bottom like the previous products.

Pros:

  • Super easy to clean
  • Made of plastic with a reversible base
  • Holds up to 48 oz of water and 5 cups of food
  • Provides water as your bunny needs it
  • Appealing design

Cons:

Kaytee Rabbit Food Bowl/Bin

Kaytee Rabbit Food Bowl/Bin

I always prefer buying bunny accessories from highly-respected and reputable brands. And Kaytee is one of the best brands for small pets in the world.

They always produce safe, durable, and affordable products including water/food bowls. I’ve reviewed a few of their bowls already.

However, this model also deserves to be on this list because it’s a well-made, cheap, and durable food bowl for hay and other bunny food.

What I appreciate about this product is the big size and partitioning. Your bunny could eat hay from the top and snack on other food from the low part at the same time.

But here’s the kicker. They won’t be able to tip over their dish because of the sturdy links keeping it in their enclosure. It’s also available in different colors which is a plus.

You can get this bowl for two small rabbits or a single large one. However, if you own more than one big rabbit, I highly suggest purchasing more than one food bowl.

The only thing I don’t like about this bowl is the plastic construction. It’s still durable and doesn’t enable bunnies to create a dent if they try to chew it. However, it’s still possible that it could be destroyed over time. Now, let’s summarize the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Large combo bin feeder
  • The upper gate keeps hay in place
  • Individual compartments for kibble and hey
  • High-quality and affordable feeder
  • Mounts securely to cages

Cons:

  • Made of plastic that can be destroyed over time by your bunny

STAYbowl Tip-Proof Rabbit Food-Bowl

STAYbowl Tip-Proof Rabbit Food-Bowl

Last but certainly not least, I have another food/water bowl made of food-grade plastic that’s both safe and durable.

I like this bowl a lot because it’s designed to significantly decrease the chance to tip it over and cause a mess! Furthermore, it’s very lightweight which isn’t a good thing.

And I say that because although it’s made to decrease the ability to tip it over, bunnies can still flip it and spill all their food or water because it’s so lightweight. In fact, they can toss it like a frisbee!

If this isn’t a deal-breaker for you and you still think it’s a cute bowl, buy it today! It has a wide base that allows your bunny to stand on it while eating. And as long as your bunny doesn’t figure out how to flip it over, you’re safe! It’s the perfect water or food bowl for small dwarf bunnies.

Pros:

  • Doubles as water or food bowl
  • Decreases overfeeding and food competition
  • Made to significantly decrease change to tip bowl
  • BPA-safe, dishwasher-safe, and unbreakable
  • Made of safe, food-grade plastic

Cons:

  • Very lightweight

How To Choose The Best Rabbit Food And Water Bowls?

Both food and water bowls have the same function – holding food and water for your bunny. However, they also have different features that might make one bowl preferable to another. When buying rabbit food and water bowls, the following factors can help you make a smart buy.

Material

A water or food bowl for bunnies can be made from pretty much anything. However, most of the bowls on the market that I’ve encountered were either made of ceramic or plastic.

So, which is better? Well, according to my research, both materials have advantages and disadvantages. For instance, plastic food and water bowls weigh less than ceramic ones.

They’re also less brittle and won’t break easily if you drop them by accident. They also feature a locking mechanism that enables them to be mounted to the side of any bunny cage.

Otherwise, they would tip and make a whole mess. Furthermore, they’re chew-resistant. However, your pet could still cause some damage to plastic food and water bowls over time.

Ceramic bowls, on the other hand, weigh more than plastic ones. They can’t be fastened to the side of your bunny’s cage. However, thanks to their increased weight, they’re harder to tip over.

Moreover, your bunny won’t be able to chew or destroy a ceramic water and food bowl in any manner. However, they might still be able to slide a smaller one around and make a mess.

Is it hard to spill?

When buying a bowl for your bunny, it’s very important to pick something that’s not easy to overturn. Otherwise, you will have to pick up their food and wipe their spills every day. If a bowl isn’t fastened to anything or doesn’t weigh much, your pet might turn it over.

The worst part? All that water combined with poop and bedding can make for very stinky chaos. So, opt for something heavy such as ceramic bowls. You can also find bowls created of durable plastic. However, they’re still lightweight and people usually buy ones that can be mounted on the cage.

Note that some ceramic bowls may still be pushed around and plastic can be broken off at the fastening point. No matter what type of bowl you pick, make sure it’s durable and hard for your pet to knock over. Furthermore, make sure it’s easy to clean or dishwasher-safe.

Size

Lastly, consider the size. You will need a water and food bowl that provides plenty of food and water for your bunny but don’t choose something that takes too much space.

You can pick from sizes between 6 oz and 20 oz. However, I would suggest something between 6 and 10 oz. Another thing you need to consider is that your bunny can get into the bowl to eat or drink.

Thus, make sure that you don’t buy a bowl that’s too tall. Some plastic bowls that mount to the side of a cage can sometimes be affected by the cage design, making them too high for your pet to reach, so keep that in mind when shopping for a water or food bowl for your bunny.
