Why are rabbits called bunnies?
The word bunny itself is a contraction of the Scottish term “bun” which means rabbit or squirrel. The French name for these animals, bon (good), may have also played an influence in how it came to mean “small animal” later on; however, by this point, its original meaning had been lost forever!
